THE COMPANY AND VEHICLES
Why choose Motor Home Time to travel across Argentina and South America?

Motor Home Time is a family business specializing in recreational vehicles with a long track record. We offer well-maintained motorhomes with all the comforts, personalized advice, flexible routes, and comprehensive support before and during your trip.

Choosing us means enjoying total freedom to explore Argentina and South America at your own pace, without depending on fixed itineraries or accommodation schedules.

What is a motorhome and why is it the best way to travel South America?

A motorhome is a motor vehicle with a fully integrated living space: bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and lounge. It allows you to travel and have your home with you at all times.

South America is ideal for this type of travel because of its vast landscapes, diverse routes, and in many cases, the difficulty of finding quality accommodation in remote areas. With a motorhome you have the flexibility to stop where you want, when you want.

How long has the company been operating?

Motor Home Time has been operating for over 10 years in the RV rental and sales market in Argentina, accumulating extensive experience in motorhome tourism across South America.

What types of motorhomes do you have available?

We have various models suitable for different group sizes and comfort preferences:

  • Patagonia Camper 4×4: 4×4 motorhome ideal for off-road and remote routes, capacity for 4-5 people.
  • Patagonia Motorhome: larger, more comfortable model with all amenities, ideal for families or groups.
Do the motorhomes have air conditioning, heating, and hot water?

Yes, all our motorhomes are fully equipped with air conditioning, heating, hot water, refrigerator, gas stove, shower, and toilet. The necessary equipment varies by model, but all are designed to ensure maximum comfort during your trip.

How many people can travel in a motorhome?

Depending on the model, our motorhomes can accommodate between 2 and 5 people comfortably. We recommend checking the specific capacity of each vehicle when making your reservation.

Are the motorhomes equipped with GPS or navigation systems?

Yes, our motorhomes can include GPS systems. We also recommend downloading offline maps (such as Maps.me or Google Maps offline) as some remote areas in South America may have limited connectivity.

Do you offer one-way rentals (pick up in one city and drop off in another)?

Yes, we offer one-way rentals in some destinations. This option allows you to plan a one-way route without having to return to the starting point. Additional charges may apply depending on the pickup and drop-off locations. We recommend consulting availability when booking.

What is included in the rental price?

The base rental price includes: vehicle with full equipment, mandatory insurance, unlimited kilometers (in some packages), and pre-trip technical assistance.

Items not included: fuel, campsites or motorhome parks, toll fees, optional additional insurance, and specific accessories.

Do you provide roadside assistance during the trip?

Yes, we offer 24/7 telephone assistance throughout your trip. In case of mechanical problems or emergencies, we coordinate the necessary support to minimize inconvenience to your travel.

Can I travel to other countries?

Yes, we allow travel to other South American countries such as Chile, Uruguay, Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Peru, subject to prior authorization and additional documentation. It is important to notify us when booking so we can prepare the required paperwork.

What fuel do the motorhomes use?

Our motorhomes use diesel fuel. It is advisable to refuel regularly, especially before entering areas with few service stations, such as Patagonia or the Bolivian altiplano.

What is the motorhome’s fuel consumption?

Fuel consumption varies by model and terrain, but is approximately 8 to 12 liters per 100 km under normal conditions. On mountain or rough terrain, consumption may be higher.

Do you provide any orientation or induction before the trip?

Yes, before departure we conduct a full vehicle handover: we explain the operation of all systems (water, gas, electricity, generator if applicable), the vehicle’s features, and answer all your questions. You also receive a printed and digital manual.

What happens if the motorhome breaks down during my trip?

We have a roadside assistance protocol. You should contact us immediately. Depending on the situation, we coordinate a technical service visit, vehicle replacement (if available), or necessary towing. Our priority is to get you back on the road as soon as possible.

Do you rent camping accessories or outdoor equipment?

Yes, we offer additional accessories to rent such as outdoor chairs and tables, awnings, outdoor grills, and more. Ask about availability when booking.

Can you help plan the route?

Absolutely. We offer personalized route advice based on your available time, interests, and the season. We share suggested itineraries, points of interest, and recommended campsite information.

We recommend checking specific entry requirements for each country you plan to visit.

Is it safe to travel by motorhome in Patagonia?

Yes, Patagonia is one of the most popular destinations for RV travel in South America. The roads are generally in good condition, although some secondary routes may be unpaved. We recommend planning your fuel stops in advance, as service stations can be far apart, and checking weather conditions as winds can be intense.

What routes do you recommend for a first motorhome trip?

For first-timers we recommend:

  • Andean Lakes Road (from San Martín de los Andes to Bariloche): paved, scenic, not too long.
  • Mendoza to San Juan: excellent wines, Aconcagua views, accessible roads.

These routes combine natural beauty, services, and manageable distances.

We recommend not carrying fresh meat, fruit, or vegetables when crossing into Chile.

  • iOverlander: ideal for South America, includes wild camping spots.
  • Park4night: very complete, with photos and reviews.
  • Wikicamps: widely used in Argentina.
  • Google Maps: useful for urban campsites.

We also provide a list of recommended campsites when you pick up the vehicle.

Is wild camping (free camping) allowed in Argentina?

In many parts of Argentina wild camping is tolerated and even popular, especially in Patagonia and desert areas. However, it is important to check local regulations in each province, as some protected areas or national parks do not allow free camping.

We always recommend leaving no trace and respecting the environment.

What is the weather like in Patagonia and when is the best time to visit?

Patagonia has a cold, windy climate with significant seasonal variations. The best time to visit is during the southern summer, between November and March, when temperatures are milder and the days longer.

However, even in summer it is advisable to bring warm clothing and waterproofs, as weather can change rapidly.

How do I manage waste and wastewater in the motorhome?

The motorhome has tanks for grey water (sinks and shower) and a toilet tank. Wastewater should be emptied at authorized service stations or motorhome parks — never in nature.

We explain waste management in detail during vehicle handover, and our vehicles are equipped with all the tools for proper handling.

Is it better to travel by motorhome or stay in hotels?

Both options have their advantages, but motorhome travel offers unique benefits: total freedom, lower accommodation costs on long trips, the ability to access remote places without infrastructure, and an immersive experience in nature.

Many travellers who try motorhome travel adopt this style because it allows them to discover destinations that would be difficult to visit using only traditional hotels.
